Some ideas for acts of kindness you can do every day

Being kind doesn’t necessarily mean making big donations or going out of your way to visit an orphanage or a care home. Kindness includes anything that lifts another person – a word, a gesture, a smile.

Kindness includes anything that lifts another person – a word, a gesture, a smile.

There are many things which you can do to be kinder:

  • Let someone go first,
  • Give in your seat in the bus or any public transport,
  • Say hello, good morning, and thanks to the cashier in the supermarket, or to the guy that drives the bus,
  • Greet people with a smile,
  • Call your closest friends or family more often
  • Do not forget to say ‘Thank you’
  • Share your meal
  • Give a friendly ear
  • Do something good for your community or neighbourhood
  • A chain reaction

This is the nice part. Evidence shows that one act of kindness can trigger many others. Some say that if more stories of kindness were shown in the media, people would start to respond and be kinder. What’s even better is that there is a kind of positive loop between kindness and happiness: being kind makes you happier, and the happier you are, the kinder you tend to be.
